User Permission Roles Explained

Overview

CompanyCam has four internal permission roles. When you add someone to your account, you assign them one of these roles based on what they need access to.

Admin

Commonly used for: Company President/Owner, Controller, or Office Admin

Complete control of the account, including:

  • Access to billing and subscription details

  • Access to all Projects and features

  • Ability to manage Users

  • Ability to create and manage Templates

  • Ability to connect, disconnect, and manage integration settings

Manager

Commonly used for: Crew Leads, Foremen, or Supervisors

  • Access to all Projects and features

  • Ability to manage Users

  • Ability to create and manage Templates

  • Ability to connect, disconnect, and manage integration settings for select integrations

Standard

Commonly used for: Crew Members, Full-time Employees, or Technicians

  • Access to all Projects

  • Unable to manage Users, billing, or company-wide settings

Restricted

Commonly used for: Subcontractors, Part-time Employees, or Employees on a "need to know" basis

  • Access only to Projects they create or are assigned to by an Admin or Manager

  • Unable to manage Users, billing, or company-wide settings

FAQs

What are the four permission roles in CompanyCam?

The four permission roles within CompanyCam are Admin, Manager, Standard, and Restricted.

Where can I view the permission roles of other Users on my account?

Admins, Managers, and Standard Users can view all Users' permission roles. The roles can only be viewed within the web app. On the web, they can click on the Team Tab in the left-hand navigation menu. The roles are listed next to the User's name.

Restricted Users don't have access to the Team Tab.

Can permission roles be edited?

Yes. Admins and Managers can edit Users' permission roles at any time; here's how. However, only Admins can edit a User to the Admin role.

If a User's permission role changes from Standard to Restricted, will they still have access to Projects they created or are assigned to?

If the User creates a Project as a Standard User and then becomes a Restricted User, they don't retain access.

If they are assigned a Project as a Standard User and then are made a Restricted User, they do retain access.

Can all permission roles access all Projects on the account?

Admin, Manager, and Standard Users have access to all Projects on the account.

Restricted Users only have access to their own Projects (Projects they create themselves) or Projects they are assigned to.

What features can be assigned to Users?

Users can be assigned to Projects, Checklists, or Project Tasks.
