Editing a User's Permission Role

Learn how Admins and Managers can change another User's permission role in CompanyCam.

Permission roles control what a User can see and do in CompanyCam. If someone's responsibilities change, you can update their role anytime from the Team tab.

This feature is only available on the web app.

Note: To change a User's permission role, you need the Admin or Manager role. If you don't have one of these roles, ask an Admin on your account.

Managers can change permission roles for other Managers, Standard Users, and Restricted Users, but can't assign a role higher than their own.

Log in to CompanyCam, click Team in the left-hand navigation, then search for the User you want to update. Click the 3 Dot Icon on their card and select Edit User.

Choose the new permission role — Admin, Manager, Standard, or Restricted — then click Save Changes at the bottom of the page. Click Learn More under any role to see who it's best suited for.

You can also change a User's role directly from the Team list without opening their card: click the role dropdown next to their name and select a new permission role.

Need to update this User's email or password too? See Editing a User's Login Information.

Are new Users given a default permission role when they're invited?

New Users are given the Standard role by default when they're invited to your CompanyCam account.

What happens when a User's role is changed to Restricted?

A User whose role is changed to Restricted will lose access to any Projects they aren't individually assigned to, even Projects they previously contributed to. See Assign a Project to Users to restore their access.
