In CompanyCam, a Project is the home for one job. Every photo, video, document, and note lives inside a Project, so your whole team sees the work in one place. This article covers what a Project is, what it holds, and how to set yours up to stay organized as you grow.
What a Project is
A Project is how CompanyCam keeps one job together. Think of it as the folder for a single site or address. When you take a photo, it doesn't land in a camera roll. It attaches to a Project, stamped with the time and location, and saved to the cloud automatically.
That one rule- every photo lives in a Project- is what makes the rest of CompanyCam work. Your team sees the same photos in the same place, whether they're standing on the roof or sitting in the office.
Most companies run one Project per job. Working a single address means one Project. If there's no street address, you can drop a pin or set a GeoFence instead. See Creating a New Project for the full setup.
Note: Admins, Managers, and Standard Users can see every Project on the account. Restricted Users only see Projects they've created or been added to.
What lives inside a Project
Everything about the job goes in the Project, not just photos:
Photos and videos, time-stamped, location-tagged, and saved automatically.
Project Tasks, a running punch list for the job. See Creating and Editing Project Tasks.
Documents for notes you build from photos, plans, contracts, and anything else you want on hand.
Tags on individual photos, so you can pull the exact shot you need later.
Comments kept right on the photo instead of buried in a text thread.
Collaborators & Guests, the subs or customers you invite to a single Project.
Getting the most out of Projects
A few habits keep your Projects clean as the job count grows.
One job, one Project. The job is the unit, not the crew and not the day. Resist making a fresh Project every morning or one per team. Keeping the whole job in a single Project is what makes it easy to find months later.
Labels go on Projects. Tags go on photos. Use Project Labels to sort your Project list by status, job type, crew, or lead source. Use photo Tags to pull specific photos like Before, After, or Damage across jobs. Reach for a Label when you're organizing jobs, and a Tag when you're hunting for a photo.
Group big jobs. A job with several phases, or a customer with multiple sites, can live as separate Projects held together with Project Groups.
Archive when it's done. Finished jobs clutter your Project Feed. Archiving tucks a Project away without deleting it, so it stays searchable when you need it back.
