CompanyCam Glossary

Plain-language definitions for the plans, features, and terms you'll come across in CompanyCam.

These are the words and features you'll run into as you use CompanyCam, explained in plain language. Not sure what something's called? Search the word you'd use for it. We've tried to include the terms crews actually say.

A–C

AI Action

An AI Action is a task you have CompanyCam's AI do for you, like generating an AI Page from your photos or building an AI Checklist by voice.

AI Checklists

AI Checklists let you build and complete a Checklist just by talking. Say what you need, and it creates the tasks and sections for you, and you can check items off by voice while your hands are full. You can also turn an existing document or an AI Walkthrough into a Checklist. Some folks call this voice-to-checklist.

AI credits

AI credits are your plan's allowance for AI features. They set how many AI Actions you can run.

AI Pages

AI Pages use AI to turn your Photos and their descriptions into a finished, editable Page in seconds, so you're not writing it up by hand. You'll find them under AI Templates when you create a Page. The types are:

  • Summary: a short, AI-written headline and context for a set of Photos.

  • Daily Log: a day's Photos and notes pulled into one update you can send back to the office or to your customer.

  • Progress Recap: a Project's progress over time, rounded up into a recap you can share with a customer, foreman, or project manager.

  • Walkthrough Note: build the Page while you walk, talk, and shoot. You talk through the site, and it writes and organizes the Page for you. Some folks call this a walkthrough or video walkthrough, though it runs on your voice and Photos, not video.

Annotations

Annotations are the markup you add right on a photo: arrows, text, or shapes to point out a crack, a measurement, or anything a crew or customer needs to see. Some folks call it drawing on the photo.

Before & Afters

Before & Afters pair a before photo and an after photo of the same spot so you can show progress or prove finished work. Handy for selling the job and closing it out.

Checklists

A Checklist is a step-by-step list you build and complete on a Project so nothing slips through the cracks. Crews often use these as a photo checklist or punch list to make sure every required shot gets taken.

Chrome Extension

The Chrome Extension lets you use CompanyCam while you're working in the Google Chrome browser, so you can pull in photos or details without switching apps.

Collaborator

A Collaborator is someone you invite to a single Project to view, add, and comment on photos and complete Checklists, without being a full User on your account. This is usually how you bring in a sub or an outside company on just the job they're working.

Company Dashboard

The Company Dashboard gives you a bird's-eye view of activity and performance across all your Projects, so you can see how work is moving without opening each job.

Corporate Portal

The Corporate Portal is an admin view for managing CompanyCam across multiple locations or franchises from one place. Franchise and multi-location teams use it to keep every location consistent. Available for Enterprise accounts only.

Customers

Customers are the people you do work for, saved in CompanyCam so you can attach them to a Project and keep their details in one place.

D–F

Dual Video Mode

Dual Video Mode records from the front and back cameras at the same time, so you can capture the work and the person talking through it in one clip.

Keep reading: Using Dual Video Mode

Email Recap

An Email Recap is a scheduled email digest of recent Project or User activity, sent to you or your team so everyone stays in the loop without opening the app.

Enterprise

Enterprise is our plan for large organizations that manage CompanyCam across many Users and locations. It adds options like single sign-on, the Corporate Portal, and multi-location management.

File Uploads

File Uploads let you add outside files, like PDFs, contracts or documents, to a Project so everything for the job lives in one place.

G–I

Gallery

A Gallery Link is a shareable link to a set of Photos you've selected, so someone can view them without a CompanyCam account. You can pull photos from a single Project or from several into one link.

Guest Access

Guest Access (also just called a Guest) is a simple way to let someone like a homeowner view and add photos through a web link, with no app to install. It only shows photos, nothing else on the Project.

Integrations

Integrations are connections between CompanyCam and the other tools you run your business on, like QuickBooks or your CRM, so information and photos move between them automatically.

J–L

LiDAR

LiDAR is a camera mode on supported devices that captures depth and measurement data along with your Photos.

Logo Sticker

A Logo Sticker stamps your company logo onto Photos, so shots you share or send carry your brand.

M–O

Project Map

The Project Map plots 50 of your Projects on a map at a time, so you can see where your jobs are at a glance.

Marketing Suite

The Marketing Suite is an add-on that bundles AI-generated social media content, review requests and management, Google Business Profile sync, and a website widget.

Pages

Permissions

Permissions control what each User can see and do in CompanyCam. Each User has a permission role (Admin, Manager, Standard, or Restricted) that sets their access.

Photo

A photo is any image you capture or upload in CompanyCam. Every Photo is automatically timestamped and geotagged, so you always know when and where it was taken.

Photo Tags

Photo Tags are labels you add to Photos so they're easy to find later, like tagging every shot of a roof or an electrical panel.

Plan

Your plan is the subscription level on your CompanyCam account. It decides which features you can use and how many Users you can add.

Portfolio Site

A Portfolio Site is a public webpage, hosted by CompanyCam, that shows off your work and lets potential customers find you and get in touch. This was formerly called a Trusty Profile.

Price Book

Your Price Book is a saved list of your line items, the products, services, and prices you use to build Proposals, so you're not retyping them on every job.

Project

A Project is a single job or job site in CompanyCam. All the photos, videos, Checklists, Pages, Proposals, and other content for that job live inside its Project. Most people just call it the job, the customer, or folder.

Project Groups

Project Groups let you organize related Projects together, like grouping every job for one client or one neighborhood. Smart Groups can build those groupings for you automatically.

Project Labels

Project Labels are custom labels you put on a Project (separate from Photo Tags) to help you sort and filter your Project list.

Keep reading: Using Project Labels

Project Tasks

A Project Task is a standalone action item you add to a Project or photo to track something that needs doing. It's separate from Checklist Fields, which live inside a Checklist.

Map this photo

'Map this photo' shows where each Photo was taken within a single Project, laid out on a map of the area.

Keep reading: Using Map this Photo

Project Timelines

A Project Timeline is a chronological view of everything that's happened on a Project, so you can scroll back through the whole job in order.

Proposals

Proposals let you build a customer-facing proposal from Photos and job details, so a customer can review the work and approve it. Proposals and Payments are separate features now and don't require each other.

Keep reading: Creating a Proposal

Quick Caption

Quick Caption lets you add a description to a Photo by talking instead of typing. You take the shot, tap the mic, say what you're looking at, and it's saved to the Photo as a caption. Hands-free, which is the point when you're on a ladder or wearing gloves.

Keep reading: Using Quick Caption

Reviews

Reviews is a feature for requesting and managing customer reviews, so you can build up your reputation without chasing people by hand.

Keep reading: Requesting Reviews

S–U

Search and Filtering

Showcase

A Showcase is a curated set of Photos that walks through one Project from start to finish, built to share publicly.

Keep reading: Showcasing Projects

Signatures

Signatures let you collect a customer's signature on a document right inside CompanyCam.

Single Sign-On (SSO)

Single Sign-On, or SSO, lets your Users log in with your company's existing identity system instead of a separate CompanyCam password.

Starring

Starring marks a Project or User as a favorite, so it's quick to jump back to.

Tap to Pay

Tap to Pay lets you collect a Payment on site, right through CompanyCam via your device's Bluetooth.

Templates

Templates are pre-built, reusable formats for Checklists, Pages, and other documents, so you set something up once and use it on every job.

Keep reading: Managing Templates

Text Scanning

Text Scanning is a camera feature for scanning and digitizing printed text, like a document or a label, out on the job.

Text Snippets

Text Snippets are bits of text you save once and reuse, so you can drop them into a photo description, a Report, or a Page without retyping. Handy for the lines you write on every job, like a standard disclaimer or scope note. Some folks call these canned or saved text.

Keep reading: Using Text Snippets

Trial

A trial is a limited-time, no-cost period to try CompanyCam's paid features before you subscribe.

Users

Users are the people who log in to your CompanyCam account. Think of it as the seat each member of your crew holds. Every plan comes with a set number of Users, and you decide what each one can do with a permission role.
