Connecting CompanyCam to Salesforce

Connect CompanyCam to Salesforce to install the CompanyCam package, view Project photos on your Salesforce records, and fix common setup errors.

Salesforce is a customer relationship management (CRM) platform used to track leads, opportunities, and customer records. Connecting CompanyCam to Salesforce installs a package that brings your CompanyCam Project photos into your Salesforce records, so your sales and ops teams can see job site documentation without leaving Salesforce.

This integration is only available on the web app.

Setting up the integration

Note: You must have Admin or Manager permissions in CompanyCam to set up this integration.

  1. Watch the setup video for your Salesforce edition: the Lightning Setup Video or the Classic (or improveit360 without Lightning) Setup Video.

  2. Open the Package Install Link while logged in to your Salesforce org, then follow Salesforce's installer prompts to install the CompanyCam package. To install into a sandbox instead, append /packaging/installPackage.apexp?p0=04tKg0000000S9L to your sandbox domain.

  3. Enable the Orders object in your Salesforce org and create a Record Type for it. This is required for the package to install correctly — see the setup video above for the exact steps.

  4. If Salesforce prompts you about a Post-Install script, allow email sends from your org (and your sandbox, if applicable). The script emails our Support team so they can add your org to our allowlist.

  5. Confirm your Salesforce edition, video, and install steps line up, then check that the CompanyCam component appears on your Orders (or configured object's) page layout to confirm the install succeeded.

Connecting more than one CompanyCam account to the same Salesforce org is supported in Lightning. See Adding a second (or more) CompanyCam Connection for the setup steps.

Common setup errors

Visualforce page or link suddenly returns an error

This is usually caused by a Salesforce Hyperforce update affecting page URLs. Update any formula references to your Visualforce pages to this format: INSERT_YOUR_DOMAIN_HERE.vf.force.com/apex/Companycam_Project_[object]?id=. Contact Support if that doesn't resolve it.

Installation error related to the Orders object

Enable the Orders object in your Salesforce org and create a Record Type, as described in step 3 above.

Important: Salesforce may charge fees related to your install request, depending on what you need. If you don't hear back about your install request within 24 hours, contact our Support team or start a live chat.

How the integration works

Once installed, the CompanyCam package displays your CompanyCam Project photos directly on the connected Salesforce record (for example, an Order), so your team can view job site photos without switching platforms.

Documents, Checklists, Reports, and similar content types aren't available in the visualization component yet — only what's supported through the current API connection displays in Salesforce. We'll share updates here and through other communications as that changes.

FAQs

Can this be installed in a sandbox?

This package can be installed in a Salesforce sandbox. Append /packaging/installPackage.apexp?p0=04tKg0000000S9L to your sandbox domain to install it there.

Can this integrate with Custom Objects or FSL?

This integration can be installed on any objects required, including Custom Objects and Field Service Lightning (FSL). Org setup requirements differ depending on whether you use Lightning or Classic pages.

Can multiple CompanyCam accounts connect to one Salesforce org?

Multiple CompanyCam accounts can connect to a single Salesforce org. This is supported in Lightning using custom metadata records, plus some automation in your org to set the record's value. See the Adding a second (or more) CompanyCam Connection video for setup details.

Why does authentication fail with a redirect URI error?

A redirect URI error during authentication usually means your org hasn't been added to our allowlist yet. Our team is notified automatically when this happens. Contact Support or use live chat for a status update.

Will Documents, Checklists, and Reports sync to Salesforce?

Documents, Checklists, and Reports aren't currently available in the Salesforce visualization component. This is on our roadmap, but availability depends on our API connections. We'll share updates here and through other communications as this changes.
