Using the CompanyCam MCP Server (Beta)

See what you can ask Claude to do in CompanyCam through the MCP Server, currently in Beta, and what's not supported yet.

Once the MCP Server is connected, Claude Code can read your CompanyCam Projects, Photos, and more, and make updates on your behalf, all using your own CompanyCam permissions. This article covers what you can ask for and what's off-limits for now. If you haven't connected the MCP Server yet, see Connecting the CompanyCam MCP Server (Beta).

This feature is in Beta and is only available on the web app. Setup and plan availability are subject to change.

What you can ask for

Once you're connected, you can ask Claude Code things like:

  • "Pull up the Johnson job" — get its photos, comments, documents, and status without opening the app.

  • "Which of these photos show the finished flashing?" or "flag any photo that's missing a tag" — Claude looks at your photos directly, not just their file names.

  • "Tag and organize this photo backlog by trade" — auto-tag and clean up a pile of untagged photos.

  • "Create the Maple St reroof, add our standard inspection checklist, and put Mike and Sara on it" — stand up a new Project, checklist, and crew assignment in one request.

  • "Write this week's job recap" — a summary pulled from comments and photo activity across your Projects.

  • Set up a webhook to connect CompanyCam to another tool, without needing an engineer.

What the MCP Server can read and change

When you set up the MCP Server, you chose Read only or Read & Write access for your token. The table below shows what's possible with Read & Write. If you chose Read only, Claude can look up everything in the "Claude can read" column, but can't make any of the changes in "Claude can change."

What's not supported yet

  • Deleting or removing things. Claude Code can't delete Photos, tags, Users, webhooks, or similar today. There's no token scope that grants delete or destroy access, so nothing Claude does can permanently remove data from your account.

  • Pages, rich checklists, the activity feed, and video transcripts aren't accessible yet.

  • Promoting a User to Admin or Owner. That still has to happen in CompanyCam.

Note: Setup is terminal-based and requires an Admin or Manager role in CompanyCam and, if using Claude, access to Claude Code.

FAQs

Is the MCP Server fully released?

The MCP Server is not fully released. It's still in Beta, so what Claude Code can read and change today may expand or change as we roll it out more broadly.

What can I ask the MCP Server to do?

You can ask Claude Code to pull up a job, look at and tag your Photos, draft a job recap, or create a new Project with a checklist and crew already assigned.

Can Claude delete anything in CompanyCam?

Claude cannot delete anything in CompanyCam yet. Deleting and removing actions aren't available, so it can't permanently remove Photos, tags, Users, or other data from your account.

Does Claude use my own CompanyCam permissions?

Claude Code acts using your own CompanyCam permissions through your Personal Access Token, so it can only do what you could do yourself.

What AI tools can use the MCP Server?

Claude Code is the only AI tool the MCP Server connects to right now, through either the Claude desktop app or a terminal. It doesn't work with claude.ai, the standalone Claude chat app, or other AI tools yet.

What if Claude isn't seeing new capabilities?

Claude not seeing new capabilities usually means the session needs a restart. New tools don't appear until the session refreshes.

How do I stop Claude from accessing CompanyCam?

Stopping Claude's access means revoking your access token — see Connecting the CompanyCam MCP Server (Beta) for how.

Is my CompanyCam data secure?

Your CompanyCam data stays scoped to your own permissions. Claude Code connects using a Personal Access Token, the same way our public API works, and you can revoke it any time from Access Tokens.
