CompanyCam has two ways to work with people outside your company on a Project: Guest Access and Project Collaborators. These features work differently and are built for different situations.
Guest Access
This feature is available on select plans.
Guest Access is designed for the people you work for, like homeowners, property managers, and customers. It gives someone a limited, no-account-required view into a specific Project so they can contribute photos and comments without needing to download the app or create a CompanyCam login.
What a Guest can do:
Upload photos to the Project
Add comments to photos
View photos within the Project if the share setting is enabled by the Project owner.
What a Guest cannot do:
Upload videos
Access areas of the Project outside of the photo feed
Access any other Project or area of your CompanyCam account
Best for: Homeowners, customers, and property managers who need to submit photos or stay involved in a Project without becoming a full User.
For step-by-step instructions, see:
Using CompanyCam with Guest Access (for the Guest's perspective)
Note: Guests access the Project only through the link sent to them via email or text. They do not need a CompanyCam account. You can set an access expiration date and control whether they can view all photos in the Project.
Project Collaborators
This feature is available on select plans.
Project Collaborators are designed for the people you work with, like subcontractors or partner companies. It connects two CompanyCam accounts on a shared Project so both teams can see and contribute to the same job site documentation in real time.
What a Collaborator can do:
Add and view photos
Add videos (only available if the Collaborator is on a paid plan)
Add edits and annotations to photos
Leave comments on photos and participate in the Project Conversation
Create and interact with Project Tasks and Checklists
What is not shared with a Collaborator:
Project description
Reports
Pages
Files
Tags and Project Labels
Ability to edit Project details
Ability to request Reviews
Ability to request or view Payments
Best for: Subcontractors, general contractors, or partner companies who are actively working on the same job and need to contribute their own documentation.
For step-by-step instructions, see:
Accepting a Project Collaboration (for the Collaborator's perspective)
Note: Project Collaborators must have a CompanyCam account to accept an invite. Invites expire after 7 days. Once accepted, the Collaboration will remain active until you end it.
