Connecting CompanyCam to Jobber

Connect CompanyCam and Jobber, choose your sync method, and set up settings like Auto Assign Users and Project Groups.

Jobber is a business management platform for home service businesses. Connecting it to CompanyCam means your Jobber records automatically create matching Projects, so your job site photos, videos, and files live right alongside your Requests, Quotes, and Jobs. This article covers making that connection and choosing your settings. For how the sync works once you're set up, see Using the CompanyCam + Jobber Integration.

This integration is available on select plans and is only available on the web app.

Setting Up the Integration

Note: You must have Admin or Manager permissions in both CompanyCam and Jobber to set up this integration.

  1. In the left-hand navigation, under Integrations, click App Marketplace.

  2. Search for Jobber, then click the card.

  3. Click Connect.

  4. Choose your sync method: Lifecycle: One project created per Jobber request, quote, or job, or Legacy: One project created per Jobber property. You have to pick one before you can save. See Choosing Your Sync Method for what each one does.

  5. To pull Jobber Client contact info into the Contact Info section of your CompanyCam Projects, check the box next to Sync Primary Contacts to CompanyCam. This only applies to new Clients going forward. It won't pull in contact info for Clients you've already synced.

  6. To roll every Project for a Jobber property up under a single group in CompanyCam, check the box next to Organize CompanyCam projects into Project Groups per Jobber property. This requires CompanyCam's Crew, Scale, or Enterprise plan and isn't included on Core.

  7. Click Save.

  8. Sign in to Jobber if you aren't already, then click Allow to give CompanyCam access.

Once connected, the Jobber card will display "Connected" on your Integrations page.

Note: Connecting the integration does not automatically import your existing Jobber Clients into CompanyCam. If you would like a historical sync of previous Clients, contact our support team. A historical sync runs using whichever sync method your account is set to at the time we run it.

You're connected. To learn how photos, videos, and files sync as you work, see Using the CompanyCam + Jobber Integration.

Choosing Your Sync Method

Your sync method decides how many CompanyCam Projects get created and where your photos, videos, and files land in Jobber. In the settings modal, you'll see two options: Lifecycle and Legacy.

Legacy: One project created per Jobber property works the way the integration always has. A new Client address (Property) in Jobber creates one matching Project in CompanyCam. Photos, videos, and files you add to that Project sync to the Internal Notes of the most recent active Request, Quote, or Job for that Property.

Lifecycle: One project created per Jobber request, quote, or job still creates one Project when a Property is added. From there, each new, separate Request, Quote, or Job for that Property creates its own additional Project. Documentation syncs to that entry's Internal Notes specifically, so inspection photos stay with the Request, scoping photos stay with the Quote, and install photos stay with the Job. If Project Groups is turned on, each Jobber Property maps to a Project Group, and that Property's Requests, Quotes, and Jobs sit inside it as separate Projects. Every Project the integration creates under Lifecycle includes the linked Jobber record's URL in the Project's Description in CompanyCam, so you can confirm a Project came from the integration or jump straight to the matching record. If a Request, Quote, or Job is left untitled in Jobber, the Project name falls back to the Client name, entry type, and a URL ID instead. Give the entry a title in Jobber to fix it, since renaming the Project in CompanyCam won't stick.

Important: Converting an existing Request into a Quote, or a Quote into a Job, does not create a new Project. It only updates the label on the Project you already have. A new Project only gets created when a genuinely separate, new Request, Quote, or Job is added for that Client. If you're seeing more Projects than expected, check whether those are separate entries rather than conversions.

Here's how the default is set:

Account

Default sync method

Notes

Accounts already connected to Jobber

Legacy

Nothing changes automatically. No action is needed to keep your current behavior.

New Jobber connections

Lifecycle

New connections start on the newer workflow.

You can switch between sync methods at any time from the Jobber card on your Integrations page.

Important: If you disconnect and reconnect Jobber, your account is set to Lifecycle, not whichever method you were using before you disconnected. Check your sync method after reconnecting.

Setting Up Auto Assign Users

Auto Assign Users is an optional setting that automatically assigns Users in CompanyCam based on who's assigned in Jobber. For Requests, the User set to execute the Request syncs over. Assignment isn't available at the Client stage. It applies only after a Request, Quote, or Job has been created.

  1. Go to Integrations and find the Jobber card.

  2. Click Edit on the Jobber card.

  3. Check the box next to Auto Assign Users.

  4. Click Save.

Keep these things in mind when using Auto Assign Users:

  • Email addresses for Users in Jobber must match their email addresses in CompanyCam exactly for automatic assignment to work.

  • Users must be active on both platforms to receive automatic assignment.

  • The Assigned User setting must be enabled in CompanyCam at the account level. An Admin or Manager manages this.

  • Users assigned through Jobber overwrite any existing Users already assigned to the corresponding CompanyCam Project.

Note: If all Users are removed from a Jobber entry at once, CompanyCam won't unassign any of them. Existing assignments stay in place, and only individual unassignments sync over. You'll need to manually unassign Users in CompanyCam if all were removed at once.

Creating a Custom Field to Link CompanyCam Projects in Jobber

Creating a custom field is optional. Once it's set up, adding a custom property field in Jobber automatically populates a direct link to the matching CompanyCam Project, so you can open a Project straight from a Quote, Job, or Invoice page in Jobber.

Note: You must be on Jobber's Connect or Grow plan to use custom fields.

  1. Click the gear icon in the top right of your Jobber home page, then click Settings.

  2. In the left sidebar, click Custom Fields.

  3. Under Properties, click + Add Field.

  4. Set the Field Type to Text.

  5. Name the field exactly CompanyCam Project.

  6. Click Create Custom Field.

Important: The custom field must be named exactly CompanyCam Project (with a space between the two words). Any variation will prevent the link from populating automatically.

If you're on Legacy, the field links to your single Project for that Client. If you're on Lifecycle with Project Groups turned on, the field works at two levels: the field on the Client Property links to the Project Group, and the field on each Request, Quote, or Job links to that entry's own Project.

FAQs

How do I disconnect or edit Jobber settings?

You can disconnect or edit the Jobber integration from your Integrations page. Find the Jobber card, then click Edit to change your sync method or settings, click Disconnect to turn off the integration, or click Reconnect to turn it back on. Disconnecting doesn't delete your CompanyCam Projects.

What sync method is my account using?

Your sync method shows in the Jobber settings. Go to your Integrations page, find the Jobber card, and click Edit. The selected option is either Lifecycle: One project created per Jobber request, quote, or job or Legacy: One project created per Jobber property.

Can I switch sync methods after connecting?

Sync methods can be switched at any time. Go to your Integrations page, click Edit on the Jobber card, choose the other option, and click Save.

Will my existing Jobber connection change automatically?

Existing Jobber connections won't change automatically. They stay on Legacy until you switch sync methods yourself.

What happens if I disconnect and reconnect Jobber?

Reconnecting sets your account to Lifecycle, even if you were using Legacy before you disconnected. Switch back from the Jobber card on your Integrations page if needed.

Does converting a Request create a new Project?

Converting an existing Request, Quote, or Job doesn't create a new Project. It only updates the label on the Project you already have. A new Project is created only when a separate, new Request, Quote, or Job is added for that Client.

What causes my Project to be named with numbers?

Your Project gets that name when the entry is left untitled in Jobber. CompanyCam falls back to a name made up of the Client name, entry type, and URL ID. Give the entry a title in Jobber to update the Project name.

Does Project Groups require a specific plan?

Project Groups requires CompanyCam's Crew, Scale, or Enterprise plan. It doesn't appear in your settings on other plans, but your sync method still works.

Does the custom field work for existing entries?

The custom field only populates for new Clients, Quotes, Jobs, and Invoices created in Jobber after the field has been set up. It won't work retroactively for entries that already exist.

Can I connect more than one Jobber account?

CompanyCam supports a one-to-one connection with Jobber. You can't connect more than one Jobber account to your CompanyCam account at a time.
