Creating and Managing Text Snippets

Learn how to create, edit, duplicate, and delete Text Snippets in CompanyCam so you can reuse notes in photo descriptions, Reports, and Documents.

Text Snippets save the phrases you type over and over, then drop them into photo descriptions, Reports, and Documents in a couple of clicks. Build them all at once from the Snippets page, or create one on the spot while you're already writing.

On the web

Note: Admins and Managers can create, edit, and delete Text Snippets.

Create a Snippet

The Snippets page is the fastest way to build a batch at once.

  1. Log in to CompanyCam > click Snippets in the Resources section of the left-hand navigation menu.

  2. Click + Create Snippet in the top-right corner.

3. Enter a name and the body text.

4. Click Save.

You can also build a Snippet while you're already writing. Open the Text Snippet picker from a photo description, Report, or Document, then click + Create New in the pop-up. See Using Text Snippets for how to open the picker in each spot.

Edit, duplicate, or delete a Snippet

  1. Log in to CompanyCam > click Snippets in the Resources section of the left-hand navigation menu.

  2. Search or scroll to find the Snippet you want to change.

  3. Click the 3 Dots Icon to the right of the Snippet.

  4. Click Edit to update the name or body text, then click Save.

To copy a Snippet instead, click Duplicate Snippet in the same menu. To remove it, click Delete Snippet.

Important: Deleting a Snippet is permanent and can't be undone.

In the app

Note: Admins and Managers can create, edit, and delete Text Snippets.

There's no Snippets page in the mobile app. Create and update Snippets from wherever you're writing, then use the web to manage the full list.

To remove a Snippet instead, tap the Delete Icon and confirm.

FAQs

Can Standard or Restricted users create Text Snippets?

Standard and Restricted Users can't create, edit, or delete Text Snippets. Those actions need an Admin or Manager role. Ask your account Admin if you need access.

Can I create a Text Snippet from the mobile app?

Text Snippets can be created in the mobile app from a photo description, a Report, or a Document. There's no Snippets page in the app, so use the web to manage the full list.

What happens when I delete a Snippet?

Deleting a Snippet removes it from your account permanently and it can't be recovered. Text you already inserted from that Snippet stays where it is.

Does editing a Snippet change text I already inserted?

Editing a Snippet only changes the saved Snippet. Any text you already inserted stays exactly as you left it.

Can I duplicate a Snippet?

From the Snippets Library on the web, click the 3 Dots Icon next to a Snippet and select Duplicate Snippet.

Where can I use a saved Snippet?

Saved Snippets can be inserted in photo descriptions, Reports, and Documents on both the web and the mobile app. See Using Text Snippets for the steps.

Is there a limit on how many Snippets I can save?

Yes. You can save up to 1,000 text Snippets in CompanyCam.
