Understanding Proposal Statuses

Learn what each Proposal status means in CompanyCam from Draft through Approved.

Every Proposal shows a status so you always know where it stands, from the first draft to the customer's decision. You'll find a Proposal's status on the Proposals screen on the web app, and you'll get a notification any time the status changes.

This feature is available on select plans.

Proposal statuses

Each Proposal displays a status so you always know where things stand:

  • Draft: The Proposal has been created but hasn't been sent to the customer yet. It's fully editable.

  • Sent: The Proposal has been sent to the customer and is waiting on a response. A Sent Proposal can't be moved back to Draft, but it stays editable until your customer accepts or declines it.

  • Approved: The customer accepted the Proposal. An approved Proposal is ready to bill from — see Creating an Invoice.

  • Declined: The customer turned down the Proposal. Admins, Managers, and the Proposal creator get a notification.

  • Voided: The Proposal was canceled before it was accepted or declined.

Note: A Proposal can be duplicated in any status, including Draft, Sent, and Approved, on the web app. See Creating a Proposal.

FAQs

Can a Sent Proposal go back to Draft?

A Sent Proposal can't be moved back to Draft. It stays editable until your customer accepts or declines it, so you can still fix something without un-sending it.

Who gets notified when a status changes?

Admins, Managers, and the Proposal creator get an in-app notification whenever a Proposal is accepted or declined. Notifications show up on both web and mobile.
