Getting Started with CompanyCam Assistant

Learn what CompanyCam Assistant is, what it can do, and how to start using it to get answers and get things done across your jobs.

CompanyCam Assistant is built into CompanyCam and lets you ask questions, get things done, and set up recurring tasks — all from the job data already in your account. You don't need a new tool, a new workflow, or a new login. It's already there.

This feature is in Beta. Request to join the waitlist for access.

What the Assistant can do

The Assistant pulls from your actual photos, notes, tasks, and job history to give you answers and take action.

Daily Recap — Each morning, your Daily Recap is waiting on the Assistant page with a summary across all your active jobs: what's done, what's open, and what needs attention. You can also find a recap directly on each Project.

Chat — Type or talk to ask anything about a job or get something done. Ask what happened on a Project this week, have it build a report or punch list from recent photos, tag photos, message a crew member, or create a payment link. The Assistant knows what Project you're looking at without you having to say so.

Automations — Set up a recurring, time-based prompt once, and it runs automatically. You don't have to remember to do it again.

When the Assistant uses data from your CompanyCam account to answer a question, it shows a link to the source so you can see exactly where the information came from.

Note: Only Admins and Managers can access the CompanyCam Assistant.

What to ask the Assistant

Not sure where to start? Here are some prompts to get started:

  • "What's happening on this project today?"

  • "What tasks are still open on this job?"

  • "Find the latest roof photos."

  • "Build me a progress report for the Johnson project."

  • "Make a punch list from recent photos."

  • "Tell Jake we need the windows delivered Friday."

  • "Add 6 windows to the proposal."

  • "Create a payment link for the $2,500 deposit."

  • "Tag today's photos on the Hendricks job by room."

  • "Every Friday at 8 AM, summarize new photos and completed tasks."

If you have a Project open, the Assistant knows what Project you're currently looking at, so you don't have to name it every time.

On the web

Adjusting the chat layout

By default, the Assistant opens as a sidebar on the right side of the screen. Click the Layout Icon at the top of the panel to switch between the sidebar and a floating window.

To close the Assistant, click X in the top-right corner of the panel.

In the app

Type or speak to ask your question. The Assistant works from the same job data as the web.

FAQs

Will the Assistant make changes without asking me?

For anything that will be shared outside of CompanyCam — sending a message, posting externally — the Assistant shows you what it's about to do and waits for your confirmation. It doesn't act without your go-ahead.

What data does the Assistant use?

It uses the photos, notes, tasks, and job history already in your CompanyCam account. It doesn't pull from outside sources or integration partner data.

Are my chats private?

Yes. Chats are only visible to the User who created them.

Can I pick up a past conversation?

Yes. Chat history is saved, and you can reopen a past conversation at any time.

Can I delete a chat?

Chats can't be deleted at this time.

What kinds of Automations can I set up?

Automations run on a time-based schedule — for example, a weekly recap every Friday morning. Event-based triggers (like running automatically when a Label is added) aren't available yet.

What's the difference between the Daily Recap and asking the Assistant a question?

The Daily Recap runs automatically every morning and gives you a summary across all your active jobs. Asking the Assistant lets you get a specific answer or take a specific action at any point during the day.

Does the Assistant remember things I tell it?

If you tell the Assistant to remember something — a preference, a detail about how you work, anything — it will apply that in all future chats without you having to repeat it.
