Creating, Claiming, or Requesting a Google Business Profile in Marketing Suite

Learn how to create a new Google Business Profile, claim an existing one, or request access to one directly from Marketing Suite in CompanyCam.

Marketing Suite lets you connect your Google Business Profile directly from CompanyCam. If your business already has a profile on Google, you can claim it or request access. If it doesn't, you can create one — and complete the required verification — all without leaving CompanyCam.

This feature is part of the Marketing Suite Add-on and is only available on the web app.

Connecting your Google Business Profile

Note: Only Admins and Managers can create or connect a Google Business Profile in Marketing Suite.

Log in to CompanyCam > Click Marketing from the left-hand navigation menu> Click Settings > Connect Google. If you already have a profile connected, click Switch > Add Location instead.

After connecting your Google account, you'll see a list of locations already associated with it. If your business appears there, select it. If it doesn't, click Search Google for my Business, then search by business name.

If your business appears in the search results

  1. Select your business from the results, review the details on the confirmation screen, and click Confirm.

  2. On the next screen, click Continue on Google. Google will route you to claim the profile or request access from the current owner, depending on its ownership status. Follow the prompts to complete the process.

Important: If you're requesting access and the current owner doesn't respond within 7 days, Google may allow you to claim the profile. If your request is denied, contact Google's Business Profile support directly for next steps.

If your business doesn't appear in the search results

  1. Click + Create a new Google Business Profile at the bottom of the search screen.

  2. Fill in your business details — name, primary category, address, and any optional fields — then click Create My Profile On Google.

  3. After submitting, you'll be taken into the verification flow automatically. If you close the modal before finishing, return by clicking Verify now on the Marketing Suite Settings page.

  4. If Google needs a mailing address before it can offer verification options, you'll be prompted to enter one.

  5. Once your address is confirmed (or if none is needed), select your verification method and follow the prompts.

Available verification methods vary by business:

    • Email, phone call, or text message — Google sends a code instantly. Enter it when prompted.

    • Postcard — Google mails a code to your business address. Enter it once it arrives (allow several days for delivery).

    • Video — Can't be completed inside CompanyCam. Click Verify On Google to finish directly with Google.

  6. Once verified, your profile enters a Processing state while Google reviews it before publishing. This typically takes 1 to 5 business days. You can update your profile information during this time, but social posting to your Google Business Profile won't be available until it's live. You'll know it's processing because the PROCESSING badge appears next to the business name.

FAQs

What's the difference between claiming and requesting access?

Claiming is for profiles that exist but have no current owner. Requesting access is for profiles already owned by someone else. Google determines which applies and routes you accordingly after you click Continue on Google. If you're unsure of your profile's status, search for your business at business.google.com before getting started.

Can Standard users connect a Google Business Profile?

Standard and Restricted Users can't connect a Google Business Profile in Marketing Suite — that's limited to Admins and Managers. Standard and Restricted Users can still use other Marketing Suite features their role permits.

What if I left the verification flow before finishing?

Go to Marketing > Settings and click Verify now to pick up where you left off.

What does the "Processing" badge mean?

Processing means Google is reviewing your profile before it goes live. You can update your profile information during this time, but social posting won't be available until the profile is published. This typically takes 1 to 5 business days.

What if my profile doesn't appear in Marketing Suite after Google approves it?

Go to Marketing > Settings and refresh your connection. If it still doesn't appear, contact our support team.
