Using Project Boards

Learn how to use Project Boards to track where every project stands across your team's workflow from first contact to completed job.

Project Boards give you a visual pipeline to see exactly where every project stands — from a fresh lead to a job in progress to a closed deal. Boards are built on Labels you already use in CompanyCam, so you can shape your pipeline to match how your team actually works, without migrating to a separate app or rebuilding your process from scratch.

On the web

Open Project Boards

Log in to CompanyCam, click Projects in the left navigation bar, and select the Boards tab.

Understand Boards and Labels

Every column on a Board is a Label. The Sales board comes with the following labels:

  • Lead (default for all new projects)

  • Proposal Sent

  • Scheduled

  • Active

  • Complete

  • Lost

  • Unqualified

You can rename, reorder, or customize these Labels to match your workflow. Labels work the same way they always have in CompanyCam — Project Boards are just another way to view your Projects, organized by their Labels.

Note: Each Label belongs to one board. If a Project has multiple Labels applied, it appears in the column for the most recently applied Label.

Move a Project to a different phase

Drag and drop any project card to a different column to update its Label and move it through your pipeline.

Start a new Project from a Board column

Click + at the top of any column. The Project is created with that column's Label already applied.

Reorder or add additional Board Labels

Note: Admins and Managers can create, edit, and delete Labels. Standard users can move Projects between columns and view the Board. Restricted users can view the board, but only see projects they have access to.

  1. From the Boards Tab, select Manage Board.

  2. From there, you can drag and drop your Labels into your preferred order.

  3. Select Manage Labels to create a new Label, add an existing Label, or remove a Label from your Board.

  4. Click Save.

In the app

Open Project Boards

Open CompanyCam, then tap Boards on the home screen.

Move a Project to a different phase

  1. Within the Boards View, tap on the Project Card.

  2. Once inside the Project, tap on the Label Field to select a different phase.

  3. The Project will then move to the corresponding column on the board.

Tap + Icon at the top of any column. The Project will be created with that column's Label automatically applied.

FAQs

Can I rename or change the board Labels?

You can rename, reorder, and customize Labels to match your workflow. To rename or change the color of a Label:

Log in to CompanyCam > click Resources in the left-hand navigation > select Labels.

  1. Locate the Label you want to edit.

  2. To update the title, hover over the Label and click the Pencil icon.

  3. To update the color, click the Color Box and select a new color.

What happens if a Project has more than one Label?

The Project appears in the column for the most recently applied label.

Can I sort or reorder Projects within a column?

Projects within a column are ordered by last updated by default. Custom ordering within a column isn't supported yet.

How do Project Boards relate to the Customers directory?

Project Boards show the where — where each project sits in your workflow. Customers show the who — the relationship and contact info behind each job. The two work together: a project can have both a customer tied to it and a board label tracking its stage.

Who can see what on a Board?

Permission roles are respected across boards. You only see Projects you already have access to. Admins and Managers can edit Labels and Board structure. Standard users can move projects between columns. Restricted users can view the board and its projects, but can't edit labels or board settings.
