Beam is a financial platform for construction businesses that offers invoicing, expense management, bill pay, budgeting, and business banking. Connecting it to CompanyCam automatically creates a matching Beam Project for every CompanyCam Project and syncs your Photos and Files over so your field documentation is on hand when you're billing or budgeting. This article covers connecting the integration and how it works day-to-day.
This integration is available on all plans and is only available on the web app.
Setting up the integration
Note: You must have the Admin role in CompanyCam to connect this integration. If you don't have that role, ask an Admin on your account for permission.
Log in to Beam and click Settings next to your company name in the top navigation bar.
Select Integrations.
Click Connect next to CompanyCam. This takes you to the CompanyCam sign-in screen.
Enter your CompanyCam credentials to sign in.
Once connected, you'll see a Linked tag next to CompanyCam on Beam's side. You're all set.
Once connected, Beam imports your CompanyCam Projects from the last 90 days and checks for a match in Beam based on Project name and address. If a match is found, the Projects link automatically. If not, Beam creates a new Project. This same matching process applies to all new Projects going forward.
How the Integration Works
When you create a Project in CompanyCam, a matching Project is automatically created in Beam. Any Photos and Files you add to the CompanyCam Project sync to the CompanyCam tab within that Beam Project. From there, you can attach those Photos and Files directly to Estimates, Invoices, and Expenses in Beam.
You can also manually link or unlink Projects between the two platforms, giving you control over which Projects share content.
Creating a Project and Syncing Content
In CompanyCam, click the + icon in the left-hand corner, then select Create Project.
Enter a Project name and address, then click Create Project.
Upload Photos and Files to the Project in CompanyCam.
The Photos and Files automatically sync to the matching Beam Project, where you'll find them in the CompanyCam tab on the left-hand side. This section also includes a View Project in CompanyCam link that takes you straight to the Project in CompanyCam.
Once synced, open an Estimate, Invoice, Bill, or Expense in the Beam Project and click Add from CompanyCam to attach the synced Photos and Files.
Important: Include a full address when creating your Project. Beam only imports CompanyCam Projects that have an address; Projects with only coordinates won't be imported. It can also take up to 5 minutes for the Beam Project to appear.
Linking or Unlinking Projects
You can connect or disconnect an existing CompanyCam Project and Beam Project at any time, using either of the methods below.
From a Beam Project
Open the Beam Project you want to link.
Click the CompanyCam section, then select Manage Links.
Find the CompanyCam Project you want to link and click Link.
Search for the Beam Project you want it connected to, then click Save.
Once saved, open the Beam Project. The synced Photos and Files appear in the CompanyCam tab, along with a Link to Project in CompanyCam option.
From Beam Settings
Click the Settings icon in Beam.
Select Integrations, then click Manage Connection.
To link a Project, click Edit next to the Beam Project you want to connect, select the CompanyCam Project, then click Save.
To unlink a Project, click Edit next to the Beam Project it's currently linked to, click the X next to the link, then click Save.
