Custom Fields let you add your own fields to every Project. Track details like a gate code, permit status, or job type right on the Project. Set them up once, then use them across all your Projects to fill in your custom details.
This feature is in Beta. Plan availability is subject to change. This feature is only available on the web app.
Creating a custom field
Note: Admins and Managers can create, edit, and delete custom fields. Standard Users can see the list but can't change it.
Click Resources > Custom Fields in the left navigation.
Click Add field.
Enter a name for the field
Choose a type.
For a Dropdown, add the choices people can pick from.
Click Save.
Choosing a field type
You can't change a field's type after you save it, so pick the one that fits. You can rename a field at any time.
Type | Use it for |
Text | Notes, reference numbers, anything freeform |
Number | Counts and measurements |
Currency | Job cost, quoted amount, deposit |
Date | Inspection date, permit expiration |
Date and time | Scheduled arrival, appointment slot |
Dropdown | A list of choices you set up |
Yes/No | Simple confirmations, like whether a job needs a ladder |
URL | A link to plans, permits, or another system |
Note: If you rename a field, it will update all Projects with that Custom Field to the new updated field name.
Filling in Custom Fields on a Project
Note: Admins, Managers, and Standard Users can fill in custom fields. Restricted Users can see them but can't edit them.
Open a Project.
Click the expandable Sidebar icon on the right if the panel is collapsed.
Find the Custom Fields tile on the right side of the Project.
Click the pencil icon in the Custom Fields tile.
Fill in the fields that apply to this Project.
Click Save.
A new Project starts with no values. Until you fill something in, the tile says no custom fields are set. Open the tile to see all your fields.
Each Project keeps its own values. The same field can hold a different answer on every Project.
Deleting a Custom Field
Note: Admins and Managers can delete custom fields.
Click Resources > Custom Fields in the left navigation.
Find the field you want to delete.
Click Delete.
Important: Deleting a custom field removes it and any information entered into from every Project in your account. Before deleting a custom field, make sure you don't need the information on past Projects.
