Before getting started, make sure you've already connected your CompanyCam and Housecall Pro accounts. Once your accounts are connected, the integration handles the heavy lifting. Projects are created automatically from Housecall Pro Customers, photos, videos, and files sync back as your work progresses, so your office and field stay on the same page without anyone having to chase documentation.
This integration is only available on the web app. Photos, videos, and files captured on mobile will sync automatically, but managing the integration and viewing sync settings must be done from a web browser.
How the integration works
In Housecall Pro, a Customer can have one or more Addresses, and each Address syncs as a separate CompanyCam Project. When you see Housecall Pro Customer, Housecall Pro Estimate, or Housecall Pro Job as a Project label in CompanyCam, that label reflects the most recent active entry for that Address in Housecall Pro.
When you add a new Address for a Customer in Housecall Pro, CompanyCam automatically creates a matching Project. The two stay linked from there. Photos, videos, and Files you add to the CompanyCam Project sync to the Attachments section of the corresponding Estimate or Job in Housecall Pro.
Note: Syncing can take up to 5 minutes. If the Housecall Pro record remains a Customer only and no Estimate or Job has been created, photos, videos, and Files added to the CompanyCam Project won't sync. Photos and Files must be under 500 MB to sync. Videos must be under 100 MB to sync.
Photos, videos, and Files always sync to the most recent active Estimate or Job for that Address. If you have recurring Jobs or multiple entries for the same Address, content syncs to the most recent entry, not to previous entries.
Important: If you close the most recent Job and reopen an older Job for that Address, syncing doesn't automatically move to the reopened entry. Click On My Way on the entry you want active to make it the new sync target — see Redirecting Uploads to a Different Estimate or Job below.
Setting up a new customer and job
Note: Always create the Customer and address in Housecall Pro before creating the Estimate or Job. Creating the Estimate or Job first can cause syncing issues and duplicate Projects.
Create a new Customer and address in Housecall Pro. CompanyCam automatically creates a matching Project labeled Housecall Pro Customer. Files, photos, and videos won't sync yet at this stage — there's no active Estimate or Job.
Create a new Estimate or Job under that same Customer. The CompanyCam Project label updates to Housecall Pro Estimate or Housecall Pro Job, which turns on syncing.
Upload photos, videos, or Files to the CompanyCam Project. They'll appear under Attachments on the active Estimate or Job in Housecall Pro, along with a link back to the CompanyCam Project.
Note: Syncing can take a few minutes. If you don't see your Files or the CompanyCam link in Housecall Pro right away, wait a minute and refresh the page.
Redirecting uploads to a different Estimate or Job
By default, CompanyCam syncs uploads to the most recently created Estimate or Job. To sync to a different one instead:
In Housecall Pro, open the specific Estimate or Job under the correct Customer.
Click On My Way. This sets that Estimate or Job as the active sync target.
Wait about 5 minutes before uploading photos, to give the change time to sync.
Existing customers without a linked project
If a Customer was created in Housecall Pro before you connected the integration, they won't have a linked CompanyCam Project yet.
Open an existing Estimate or Job for that Customer in Housecall Pro.
Click On My Way. This creates a new CompanyCam Project linked to that Estimate or Job.
Important: You can't sync photos or videos to Jobs that existed before the integration was connected. You'll need to create a new Estimate or Job to start syncing for that Customer.
What doesn't sync
Pages and Checklists don't sync to Housecall Pro.
Jobs or Estimates created before the integration was connected won't receive synced photos or videos until a new Estimate or Job is created.
FAQs
Does creating a new Job always create a new Project?
Does creating a new Job always create a new Project?
Creating a new Job doesn't always create a new Project. Project creation is triggered by adding a new Customer and address. If the Customer already has a Project, adding a new Job or Estimate updates that Project's label instead of creating a new one.
Can I sync photos to a Job that existed before I connected the integration?
Can I sync photos to a Job that existed before I connected the integration?
Photos and videos can't sync to Jobs that existed before the integration was connected. You'll need to create a new Estimate or Job under that Customer to start syncing.
What Estimate or Job will my photos sync to?
What Estimate or Job will my photos sync to?
Photos sync to the most recently created Estimate or Job by default. To sync to a different one, open it in Housecall Pro and click On My Way.
What causes duplicate Projects for the same address?
What causes duplicate Projects for the same address?
Duplicate Projects usually happen when an Estimate or Job is created before the Customer's address is added. Always add the Customer and address first, then create the Estimate or Job.
Does Housecall Pro sync Pages or Checklists?
Does Housecall Pro sync Pages or Checklists?
Housecall Pro doesn't sync Pages or Checklists. Only photos, videos, and Files sync between the two.
Can any User edit or disconnect the integration?
Can any User edit or disconnect the integration?
Only Admins and Managers can edit sync settings or disconnect the integration — see Connecting Housecall Pro to CompanyCam. Uploading and viewing synced photos works for anyone with access to the Project.
What happens if I disconnect and reconnect the integration?
What happens if I disconnect and reconnect the integration?
Projects that were already linked to a Housecall Pro Customer before you disconnected will reconnect and continue syncing. Any Project you create manually while the integration is disconnected won't be linked to Housecall Pro once you reconnect — you'll need to set that link up through Housecall Pro; see Setting Up a New Customer and Job or Existing Customers Without a Linked Project above.
