Creating your Stripe account

  1. Sign up for a Stripe account. Enter your email address, full name, password, and country or region your business is incorporated. Once filled out, click on Create Account.

  2. Before activation, check your email for a link to verify your email address. If you're not seeing a link, click on the Resend email option.

  3. Once verified, select how you'd like to get started. You'll be able to start accepting payments right away by selecting Add business information, or you can select Explore features to learn more about Stripe.

    Business Type

  4. To activate payments and verify your business, you'll start by adding your business location, business type, and business structure. Once all fields have been added, click Continue.

    Business Details

  5. Next, you'll want to add your legal business name, Employer Identification Number (EIN), business name (this is optional and can be the operating name of your company if it's different from the legal name), and your business address. Select Continue after adding the information.

    Business Representative

  6. For verifying personal details, this information should be for the business representative who has the authorization to sign into the Stripe account on your organization's behalf. Make sure the dedicated person is filling out the form with their legal name, email address, date of birth, home address, phone number, and the last four digits of their Social Security number. Once filled in, click Continue.

    Public Details

  7. After adding your internal business details, you'll want to add any public details for your customer's payment statements, invoices, and receipts. Fill in the statement descriptor (this will show on your customer's bank or credit card statements), shortened description (this is optional and would be a brief summary or label associated with transactions), and a customer support phone number. Click Continue when done.

    Bank Details

  8. Now that your business details have been added, you'll be able to add your banking information. Select or search for your bank. Once found, enter the account details you'd like to have payments sent to, and then click Continue.

    Two Step Authentication

  9. To keep your account secure, Stripe requires two-step authentication. Stripe recommends having multiple forms of two-step authentication. Once you've selected which options work best, click Continue.

    Review and finish

  10. Review all of the information entered, and confirm to finish the setup. Select Verify email and then you're all set!
