Registering an Application

Learn how to register an Application in CompanyCam so you can create Application Keys for partner integrations and business-level custom integrations.

An Application is the integration itself: its identity and registration. It's separate from an Application Key, which is the credential that authorizes access on behalf of that Application. Register an Application once, then create as many Application Keys against it as you need. If you're building a custom integration from scratch, see Building Custom Integrations with the API for the bigger picture.

This feature is available on select plans and is only available on the web app.

Registering an Application

Note: Only Admins and Managers can register an Application.

  1. Click Integrations in the left-hand nav, then click Applications.

  2. Click New Application.

  3. Fill out the name, description, permission level, and a redirect URI (needed for OAuth integrations).

  4. Click Create Application.

Note: An Application has its own permission level, but that's separate from any Application Key created under it. The permission level on each individual key is what actually governs that key.

Once your Application is registered

Head to the Access Tokens page to create an Application Key against it. See Creating Access Tokens and Application Keys for step-by-step instructions.
